چکیده

Small perturbations of a black brane are interpreted as small deviations from thermodynamic equilibrium in a dual theory with the AdS/CFT correspondence. Quasinormal modes are solutions to linearized equations obeyed by classical fluctuations of a gravitational background subject to specific boundary conditions and are also gauge-invariant quantities. We give analytic solutions for each fluctuation that compose such quantities. Then, in a place slightly away from the horizon Brown and York boundary stress tensor is calculated. Using them, we make conserved stress tensor near the horizon which can represent dissipative parts of stress tensor in the dual theory by holography. Thus, we propose gravitational counterparts of sound modes in the membrane paradigm. 1 E-mail address : [email protected]

Black Holes from A to Z

These are the lecture notes from Professor Andrew Strominger’s Physics 211r: Black Holes from A to Z course given in Spring 2015, at Harvard University. It is the first half of a survey of black holes focusing on the deep puzzles they present concerning the relations between general relativity, quantum mechanics and thermodynamics. Topics include: causal structure, event horizons, Penrose diagr...

Holography of 3D flat cosmological horizons.

We provide a first derivation of the Bekenstein-Hawking entropy of 3D flat cosmological horizons in terms of the counting of states in a dual field theory. These horizons appear in the flat limit of nonextremal rotating Banados-Teitleboim-Zanelli black holes and are remnants of the inner horizons. They also satisfy the first law of thermodynamics. We study flat holography as a limit of AdS(3)/C...

Black Hole Horizons and the Thermodynamics of Strings *

We review the classical thermodynamics and the greybody factors of general (rotating) non-extreme black holes and discuss universal features of their near-horizon geometry. We motivate a microscopic interpretation of general black holes that relates the thermodynamics of an effective string theory to the geometry of the black hole in the vicinity of both the outer and the inner event horizons. ...

Thermodynamic Gravity And The Emergence of Space With Geometry

Thermodynamic aspects of black holes and Rindler horizons are reviewed along with quantum field theory in the corresponding curved spacetimes. The implication that gravity might be thermodynamic in origin is considered. Macroscopic space is seen to emerge at a course-grained limit via the application of holography in the context of horizons. Both Newtonian and Einsteinian gravity are seen (sepe...
